BNY
Mellon Audience Development Fund
|
Out of
a shared commitment to expand the reach, influence and effectiveness
of the region's diverse cultural community, Greater Pittsburgh
Arts Council is pleased to launch a new grant program: the
BNY Mellon Audience Development Fund. Eligible applicants
include arts organizations from any artistic discipline with
501(c)(3) status from the IRS and operating budgets under
$2 million. Preference will be given to organizations located
within Allegheny County.
A total
of $75,000 will be awarded. Grants of up to $5,000 will support
audience development efforts. Postmark deadline is October
13. Awards will be announced in early December. Projects must
be completed within twelve months of award date.

Eligibility
| |
Eligible
proposals include, but are not limited to, the following:
- brochure
underwriting
- website
development, including incorporation of Web 2.0 strategies
- market
research
- branding/rebranding
& development of collateral materials
- outreach
programming designed to develop target markets and/or build
diversity
- group
sales program development
- collaborative
marketing efforts with other nonprofit group

A
project will not be funded if:
- it
is not open and marketed to the public
- it
benefits only the organization's membership base
- it
is solely sectarian in design and purpose

In addition, funds
may not be used [1] to purchase equipment costing more than $500 per
item or [2] to pay staff.
Proposals
should include:

Organizational
Information
- A one-page
organization overview, including mission, recent accomplishments,
service area, and
population served
- A one-page
description of current audience development efforts, including
results, impact, and
conclusions
- Board
of directors, listed with professional affiliations
- Staff
(paid or unpaid), listed by name and position
- Actual
operating budget for most recently-completed fiscal year
- Copy
of organization's 501(c)(3) status letter from the IRS
- One
sample each of current marketing materials

Information (no more than 3 pages)
- Description
of the proposed project in the context of the overall business/marketing
plan
- Detailed
project budget including other sources of funding (if applicable)
- Time
frame for project completion
- Project's
target audience and anticipated impact
- Plans
for tracking the project's effectiveness
- Plans
for applying new information to subsequent audience development
efforts

Include only information
and materials that are directly related to the above criteria. Please
do not staple or bind proposal. Requests should be signed by the contact
person and a board member. If the proposal is a collaborative request,
also provide signatures for partner organizations.
