About
Our Networking Opportunities
We want to connect you to the people and resources you need
to succeed in the regional arts community. Through networking
events, listservs and online connections, we hope you'll find
new contacts and fresh ideas that help you expand your reach,
influence and effectiveness.
Pittsburgh
Emerging Arts Leaders Network
This new local network is the result of a "Creative
Conversation" that took place last fall. Designed
for individuals with less than 10 years experience in arts
management, this network will connect you to the arts community
in two ways:
The
Pittsburgh Emerging Leaders Website/Listserv
www.groups.google.com/group/pghleaders
This
simple, concise web resource easily interacts with any
email accountGmail, Yahoo!, Outlook and more. You
can use this free site as an active way to connect with
peers by sharing your ideas, or you can use it passively
as a listserv to stay informed. Features include:
- Interactive
listserv Send and receive messages to the
entire listserv, enabling you to ask questions, share
news articles, find committee membersanything
you need! By sending an email to pghleaders@googlegroups.com,
youll reach everyone subscribed to the group.
To avoid crowding your inbox, you can subscribe to a
daily digest of emails that is easy to scan.
- Shared
calendar Schedule your own happy hour discussion,
view upcoming networking events or keep tabs on professional
development grant deadlines.
- Shared
links/files Share links to the webpages and
online resources you couldnt work without, or
upload office templates, articles etc. that might be
helpful to your peers.
Quarterly
Networking Events
Find people, find resources, find good conversations!
Hosted by local arts organizations or corporations, these
events will consist of structured discussions, creative
channels to find the people you need, quiet corners for
1 to 1 conversations and open meeting rooms for brain-storming.
Though topics will vary, the events will focus on arts
management issues that are pressing to emerging leaders.
Save the date for the first event, to be held at
the Union Project on Tuesday, April 29, 2008!
Additionally,
each October the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council will
partner with Americans for the Arts (AFTA) to host a Creative
Conversation in celebration of National
Arts & Humanities month. These discussions will
be part of the national Emerging Leader Network of AFTA
members.
