Each year the Pennsylvania Legislature
votes on funding for the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts
(PCA), renewing its commitment to people who support and produce
the arts across the commonwealth. This year 81 artists and
arts organizations in Allegheny County received a total of
$283,931 in PCA funds through Pennsylvania Partners in the
Arts, administered locally by the Greater Pittsburgh Arts
Council. On September 28, 18 legislators or representatives
from their district joined the Arts Council to present
these awards.
The ceremony, held at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts,
was attended by 104 members of the cultural community and
gave legislators a chance to see how funding decided at
the state level is making a difference in their districts.
Special thanks to Joy Sato and the Pittsburgh Center
for the Arts for so generously hosting this year's celebration.
