This meeting arranged by Office of Public Art and Cleveland Public Art was the first such collaboration between the two groups and it consisted of a tour of Cleveland's Public Art.

The afternoon began with a presentation by Greg Peckham, Executive Director of Cleveland Public Art, followed by a hardhat tour of the Cleveland Museum of Art. The museum is undergoing a renovation designed by Raphael Vinoly, architect of the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh.

The tour moved on to the Cleveland Botanical Gardens, whose adjoining University Circle contains a 60-foot long steel gateway created for the gardens by artist Albert Paley; five free-standing seed sculptures by artist Tony Corliss on which people are encouraged to climb; and ironwork butterfly gates created for the children's area by artist Brinsley Tyrrell with blacksmith Steve Jordon.

The third stop was the Public Library's Eastman Reading Courtyard, a tranquil space featuring the work of designer Maya Lin and her brother, poet Tan Lin throughout, along with whimsical figures by artist Tom Otterness. Finally, the group braved the weather to walk across the Detroit Superior Bridge, a project that increased pedestrian paths and installed seven weather-monitoring stations by artist Don Harvey.

The Office of Public Art is a public private partnership between the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council and the City of Pittsburgh Department of City Planning funded by The Heinz Endowments.
