This page provides a list of funding resources for both individuals and organizations.


  Alcoa Foundation Leadership Grants for Arts Managers is awarded by the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council to provide up to $1,000 to support advanced training and leadership development arts managers in environments where they can interact with peers in their fields. Must have at least 5 years professional experience as an arts manager.
  The mission of Allegheny Regional Asset District is to support and finance regional assets in the areas of libraries, parks and recreation, cultural, sports and civic facilities and programs.
The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, Foundation Center is a resource for nonprofit organizations and individuals seeking information about grants and grantmaking organizations.
  The Council on Foundations is a Washington, DC, area-based nonprofit membership association of more than 2,100 grantmaking foundations and corporations. The assets of Council members total more than $282 billion. As the voice of philanthropy, the Council works to create an environment in which the movement can grow and thrive, and to provide Council members with the products and services they need to do their best work.
  Foundation Center is a library of national funding resources that also sends out the Philanthropy News Digest, the Job Bulletin, and the RFP Bulletin.
  Grantmakers of Western Pennsylvania (GWPA) is a professional membership association formed in 1985 by leaders who wanted to create an organized mechanism for grantmakers to learn and work together.
  Grantmatch is about GrantMAKERS and GrantSEEKERS telling each other who, what, where, when, how and why they exist in the nonprofit world.
  The Gunk Foundation is a charitable operating foundation that was established in December 1994 to provide a counterbalance to the recent, disturbing trends in funding for intellectual endeavors.
  The Heinz Endowments help the Pittsburgh region thrive as a whole community - economically, ecologically, educationally and culturally - while advancing the state of knowledge and practice in the fields in which we work.
  Since its inception in 1963, the mission of the Foundation for Contemporary Arts has been to encourage, sponsor, and promote innovative work in the arts created and presented by individuals, groups, and organizations.
  Jim Henson Foundation awards grants each year for the creation and development of innovative works of puppet theater.
  Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation supports the richness and diversity of the region's arts resources and promotes wider access to the art and artists of the region, nation and world.
  For more than a decade, funding by the Multicultural Arts Initiative (MCAI) has been critical to the support of African American arts programming in the Pittsburgh region.

  The New York Foundation for the Arts' (NYFA) mission is to empower artists at critical stages in their creative lives and provides the public with opportunities to experience and understand their work.
The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission is the official history agency of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Created in 1945, we are responsible for the collection, conservation, and interpretation of Pennsylvania's historic heritage, which we accomplish through the Pennsylvania State Archives, the State Museum of Pennsylvania, the Bureau of Historic Sites and Museums, the Pennsylvania Trails of History, the Bureau for Historic Preservation, and the Bureau of Management Services.
  The mission of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (PCA) is to foster the excellence, diversity and vitality of the arts in Pennsylvania and to broaden the availability and appreciation of those arts throughout the state.
  Since 1945, The Pittsburgh Foundation has worked to improve the quality of life in the Pittsburgh region by evaluating and addressing community issues, promoting charitable giving, and connecting donors to the critical needs of the community.
  The Puffin Foundation Ltd. has sought to open the doors of artistic expression by providing grants to artists and art organizations who are often excluded from mainstream opportunities due to their race, gender, or social philosophy.
  Puppeteers of America Endowment Fund Members are eligible to apply for small projects grants. Awards range from $100-$1,000 and are made every two years.
  Yellow Fox Foundation assists needy individuals who are pursuing well-defined goals in the arts, education, sciences or humanities.
Especially for Individual Artists
  Creative Capital offers grants of up to $20,000 to individuals in the visual & performing arts, media, and new fields.
  Franklin Furnace Fund for Performance Art awards grants of $2,000-$5,000 to performance artists, allowing them to produce major works anywhere in the State of New York.
  The Kleban Foundation - In honor of Edward Kleban, this award is given annually to both a librettist and a lyricist. The award will be in the amount of $100,000 to each recipient and will be payable in two annual installments of $50,000.
  Ludwig Vogelstein Foundation (LVF) provides one-time grants to individuals working in the fine arts (excluding photography, film, and video) and in the literary arts, including playwriting. Also supports certain unaffiliated scholarly and/or research projects.
  National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts aims to identify emerging artists and assist them at critical junctures in their educational and professional development, and to raise the appreciation for and support of the arts in American society.
  Princess Grace Awards for Theater Artists and Playwrights is dedicated to identifying and assisting emerging young artists in theater to realize their career goals through scholarships, apprenticeships, and fellowships.
  Tobin Foundation for the Theatre Arts accepts grant requests having specific focus on theatrical arts, including opera and theatre stage, set, and costume design are encouraged.
  Yellow Fox Foundation assists needy individuals who are pursuing well-defined goals in the arts, education, sciences or humanities.
